Activated charcoal in beauty products

Let’s talk about the hottest beauty trend out right now.

USING CHARCOAL IN BEAUTY PRODUCTS

Charcoal became huge in the beauty industry last year and it’s still going strong. You probably have seen all those charcoal face masks, cleansers, body scrubs, and toothbrushes. There is even a charcoal lemonade! Yes, you can even drink it.

HOW DOES CHARCOAL ACTUALLY WORK?

Activated charcoal or activated carbon is a natural treatment used to trap toxins and chemicals in the body allowing them to be flushed out, so the body doesn’t absorb them. It has been used for many years in hospitals and emergency rooms to treat poisoning and drug overdoses. (source)

That’s why using charcoal in beauty products is kind of amazing. It works as a detoxifier and brings all that dirt, oil, and chemical to the surface of the skin.

WHY IS ACTIVATED CHARCOAL GOOD FOR YOU?

+ It has antibacterial and antifungal properties.

+ Unclogs pores.

+ Balances oily skin.

+ Exfoliates.

Not too long ago, I bought this charcoal clay mask which detoxes and brightens the skin.

Since I haven’t been getting tons of sleep with the baby, I wanted something that is going to give my skin life. The mask is made of 3 pure clays and charcoal. These ingredients act like a magnet to clean out impurities by attracting dirt and oil to the surface of the skin. It also helps to detoxify and illuminate dull skin.

I apply a thick layer, wait for 10 to 15 minutes and wash it out. When it starts to dry out you can actually see your dark pores turning white. So you know the mask is working.

I use it every 2-3 days, so about 3 times a week and I love the way my skin looks after. A lot brighter and smoother.

Plus, it’s less than $10.
